Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream, and to become a global pop culture icon. Swift shed her roots in country music like a second-skin and showed she had the finest pop sensibility of her generation. Swift was the only artist/singer who could take the popular zeitgeist out on the road. Swift's early hits, especially the neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. The album from 2008 Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was discovering herself and was able to draw a wide audience. Fearless became a massive success and not just in the US with six singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across the globe. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this popularity and pushed Swift into the stratosphere of fame. The singer's popularity increased throughout her subsequent three albums: Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within a genre where she belonged. When she reduced her sound to the stripped-down versions of 2020, folklore and Evermore, she still remained at the top. It was a position that was confirmed by re-recordings from her past catalogue as along with Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
